SALT LAKE CITY — Two men and a woman are recovering from injuries after being hit by a vehicle while walking in a crosswalk early Sunday morning.

The three pedestrians were walking south at 400 South and West Temple at about 1:45 a.m. when a motorist struck them then drove off, said Lt. Michael Ross with Salt Lake City police.

An officer parked nearby saw the accident and pursued the driver. Ross said the motorist was stopped in the area of 400 South and Main Street and was taken into custody.

The driver was booked into Salt Lake County Jail on charges of driving under the influence and hit and run.
