IRON COUNTY, Utah — Authorities in Iron County and Las Vegas are investigating after police responding to a report of a body found in Iron County last weekend located a dead individual.
According to a press release issued Thursday by the Iron County Sheriff’s Office, officers were called to an area of Iron County just south of Summit around 4:30 p.m. on May 22. Deputies were led to a body, “that was in advanced stages of decomposition.”
Officials stated the body was sent to the Utah Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, and they stated at this time that the dead man has not been positively identified and the cause of death is unknown.
The Iron County Sheriff’s Office is working with Las Vegas Metropolitan Police to positively identify the victim, “and possible reasons why this subject may have ended up in Iron County,” according to the press release.
