SANDY, Utah -- Fire crews responded to a Sandy home Thursday night to find the two-story house fully engulfed in flames.

The fire happened at a home near 1200 E 9700 S shortly before 9 p.m.

"The cause is looking like it might be in the back deck area, but it's still under investigation," said Battalion Chief Matt Stuebner, Sandy Fire Department.

The fire also affected the attic area above the garage. Although firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, the home is considered a total loss.

Four people who rented the home were displaced. No injuries were reported. The damage was estimated at $175,000 and an additional $15,000 for damage to siding on a neighboring home.
