3 pets dead in Saratoga Springs house fire, homeowner arrested for arson

SARATOGA SPRINGS, Utah – Police have arrested the homeowner for arson after three animals were killed in the fire are his Saratoga Springs home Monday.

Fire crews were called to the blaze at 244 E. Range Rd. at about 2:30 p.m.

The family was able to get out of the home but two cats and a rabbit died, according to Owen Jackson, spokesman for Saratoga Springs Fire.

Another cat was revived at the scene then taken to a veterinarian, Jackson said.

No other injuries were reported.

Jackson said the 23-year-old homeowner, Wesley Sayer, poured an accelerant around the house and then lit it on fire.

Sayer was arrested for arson.
