JACKSON. Miss. – An officer recovering after his car was hit in a police chase and a witness who saw the whole event are getting national attention after the incident this week.
According to WLBT, the officer could be released from the hospital Wednesday after a van involved in a chase plowed into his cruiser Monday.
The collision caused the officer’s car to slam into a utility pole, splitting it.
Witness Ruby Evans, who also goes by Courtney Barnes, told WLBT the suspect jumped from the van and ran from the scene after the crash.

Authorities said the suspect is still on the run as of Wednesday afternoon.
The name of the injured officer who has served 10 years on the force has not been released at this time.
