DENISON, Texas – There’s been a historic amount of rainfall around Lake Texoma at the Oklahoma and Texas border this year.
The Army Corps of Engineers in Tulsa is attempted to control levels by draining water earlier this month.

That created a massive vortex, about 8 feet in diameter, at the Denison Dam spillway.

“Just like in your house when you fill a bathtub full of water and (open) the drain, it will develop a vortex or whirlpool,” assistant lake manager BJ Parkey told Business Insider.

Parkey said the whirlpool is strong enough to easily suck in a boat.
