SALT LAKE CITY — Utah’s liquor control authority will not cancel its contracts for store security.
In a memo sent to liquor stores and obtained by FOX 13 on Thursday, the Utah Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control said it failed to get enough security personnel willing to work for a reduced rate — forcing the agency to scrap its plans.
The DABC declined to comment beyond the memo, but the agency said it would have to make other cuts to meet a legislature-imposed budget shortfall. The agency has come under fire recently for low employee morale in the aftermath of the cuts.
