WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — Eastbound 201 was closed in West Valley City Thursday night after a fatal car accident, and traffic was being diverted at 5600 West.
Todd Royce of the Utah Highway Patrol said the crash occurred in the area of 5600 West and 201 when a man from Salt Lake City in his 50s was stopped on the side of the road to change a flat tire.
FOX 13 News first heard reports of the crash just after 9:15 p.m.
Another driver lost control of a vehicle and struck the man who was stopped. The man who was struck suffered fatal injuries. Two other individuals suffered injuries described as not being life-threatening.
Specific details about the events leading up to the crash or the reasons the driver lost control were not immediately clear.
As of about 10:20 p.m., eastbound lanes of 201 were still closed.
