COPPELL, Texas – A Texas football player who has signed with Brigham Young University is in fair condition after he was shot in the arm Sunday, according to the Coppell, Texas, Police Department.

According to the Star-Telegram, Charles West, a 2015 Coppell graduate, was rushed to a Dallas hospital after police were called about gunshots near Coppell Middle School East just after 6 p.m.

The Star-Telegram reported West can be seen in cellphone video getting out of an SUV and then being chased by a gunman who fired six shots towards West.

Police are working to confirm the authenticity of the video.

Officials have identified a person of interest and are still investigating at this time.

West was arrested back in January after being accused of raping a woman at knife-point.

The woman, who said she had been hired as an escort for a “foot fetish service,” told officers West held a knife to her throat and sexually assaulted her in a home’s garage.

West said he did arrange the service but denied assaulting the woman.
