Body recovered at Sand Hollow State Park after drowning

SOUTHERN UTAH — The body of a a man who drowned was recovered at Sand Hollow State Park Wednesday.

Eugene Swalberg, Utah State Parks, confirms to FOX 13 News that crews have recovered the body of a drowning victim.

St. George News reports the victim is a man in his ’20s who is from out of state and was out boating with friends and family.

The man was out on a boat on the north side of the reservoir. The man reportedly swam away from the boat and later those with him realized he had not been seen for a while. The group drove around in the boat, and eventually they found the man, who was unresponsive.

St. George News reports a bystander came and performed CPR, but efforts to revive the man were not successful.

It was not clear when exactly the drowning occurred, but FOX 13 News first heard reports of the death at about 8:40 p.m. FOX 13 News has reached out to park rangers for additional information, and we will update this story as more details become available.
