Newly improved stretch of 5600 West reopening in West Jordan

Posted

WEST JORDAN, Utah – West Jordan City plans to reopen 5600 West from 6200 South to 7000 South Friday, and the roadway has been closed for construction since February.

Greg Davenport, Capital Projects Engineer for West Jordan City, said reopening the road will speed up commutes for residents.

“We have an expanding population with a lot of homes on our west side,” Davenport said. “Many of our residents work in Salt Lake City, and they need to get there quickly. We hope that by expanding the road, they’ll be able to get to work faster.”

The improvements have made 5600 West into a 5-lane roadway, which includes sidewalks on both sides and streetlights at the 70th and 6200 South intersections. There is also a new signal at the intersection of 5600 West and 70th South, and the road now has shoulders for bike lanes and an improved drainage system.
