SALT LAKE CITY - It has been closed for months and now the 1300 South bridge in Salt Lake City is opening early.
Crews are still working on the bridge but it is open ahead of schedule thanks to three big factors; the weather cooperated, no unexpected issues with the demolition of the old bridge and construction went well.
Officials said drivers should expect a few lane closures over the next few months while crews finish the project but the bridge is open.
When the project is complete, the bridge will be three feet wider to accommodate bicycles.
In all, the project came in at about $6.8 million.
