Police searching for suspects in WVC BB gun shooting

Posted

A woman was taken to the hospital after being hit multiple times with a pellet gun while walking down the street in West Valley City Saturday.

West Valley City Police said the woman and her husband were walking down Redwood Road near 3259 South about 5:15 pm when they heard popping behind them.

The couple said they felt something hit them in the back and on their legs.

“It appears that it was just random that these individuals just target them because they were walking down the road,” said Lt. Dalan Taylor, West Valley City Police Department.

Police said the husband saw someone drive by in a black sedan holding what appeared to be a pellet or BB gun.

“A few hours prior we actually had an attempt to locate from Unified P.D. of a similar color vehicle doing similar things, firing a pellet gun or BB gun from the vehicle,” Lt. Taylor said.

The woman was released from the hospital later Saturday evening.

Officials said they do have some leads, but are asking the public to call 801-840-4000 with any information.
