Annual ‘Day of Hope’ car show raises funds to help child victims of crimes

Posted

WEST JORDAN, Utah – FOX 13 News’ Big Budah was out at the fourth annual Day of Hope car show in West Jordan Saturday, where volunteers gathered to raise funds to help child victims facing court proceedings.

The show was held at Veterans Memorial Park from noon until 4:30 p.m., and Budah was present to judge a food truck competition.

The show featured more than 300 cars and aims to raise funds for the Children’s Justice Center, which helps child victims of crimes prepare to appear in court.

“Sometimes bad things happen to good kids,” said Susanne Mitchell of the Children’s Justice Center. “They weren't expecting it, and we need great places like the Children's Justice Center to help them prepare to be a witness in court.”

As of Saturday evening, about $45,000 had already been raised. Most of the funds came from car show sponsors. FOX 13 News is among those who sponsored the show. Organizers hope to raise at least $50,000 at the event.
