WASHINGTON COUNTY, Utah - Utah Highway Patrol is investigating whether a man jumped or was pushed from a moving minivan along Interstate 15 Tuesday morning.

The incident happened around 10:30 am near milepost 13. Trooper Jake Hicks said witnesses saw a light blue minivan driving southbound, when suddenly a man in his 20s or 30s came lunging out of the passenger side.

“Traffic stopped and protected the scene, preventing him from being struck by any vehicles,” Hicks said.

Witnesses said the minivan stopped for a few moments, but continued on.

Medics transported the man to Dixie Regional Medical Center in critical condition. Hicks said they’re still trying to identify that victim.

“We’re following different leads, interviewing different witnesses trying to make positive identification for the victim,” Hicks said.

Hicks said at this point they don’t believe the victim lives in southern Utah, and suspect the van was just passing through.

Anyone who saw the incident is asked to contact Utah Highway Patrol.
