MAGNA, Utah -- Police officials responded to the scene of a fatal accident in Magna Friday night where an elderly man was hit by a vehicle.
Unified Police Department personnel confirmed around 7:49 p.m. they responded to the area of 8265 West 3500 South, where an elderly man suffered fatal injuries in the crash.
The deceased was later identified as 93-year-old Gordon Dean.
Police at the scene said the man was crossing the street to purchase food at a restaurant when he was hit by a westbound vehicle. The man was pronounced dead at the scene. The crash is under investigation, though officials said the setting sun may have contributed to the crash. Officers are investigating to determine whether or not speed or distracted driving were factors.
