Punt return for touchdown ends SUU’s upset bid at USU

LOGAN, Utah -- Utah State University had their hands full against Southern Utah University Thursday night in Logan.

After shutting down the Aggies offense, the Thunderbirds had a 9 to 5 lead with five minutes to play in the fourth quarter.

But that's when Andrew Rodriguez made the play of the game, returning a punt 88 yards to give the Aggies a 12 to 9 win and ending Southern Utah's upset bid.

"That was as about as interesting as a win as I've been around," USU Head Coach Matt Wells said. "It sure didn't start out real good on offense, and it didn't really end well, but I am going to tell you: Outstanding performance by our defense, and one huge, huge punt return."
