2 LifeFlight helicopters respond to hiker with medical issue in American Fork Canyon

UTAH COUNTY — Two LifeFlight helicopters responded to a hiker suffering from a medical problem near the mouth of American Fork Canyon Monday afternoon.

At about 4:40 p.m., Search and Rescue, medical and a LifeFlight helicopter responded to the hiker identified as a 23-year-old woman from California. It is unknown what medical problem the hiker is suffering from.

The victim is also identified as a student at Brigham Young University.

According to a tweet from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office PIO, a second helicopter with a hoist also responded to the scene because the victim was in an area near cliffs with difficult access.

The woman was picked up and taken to an area hospital. It is unknown what her current condition is.
