SALT LAKE CITY -- The Utah State University Aggies came south to Salt Lake City to take on the University of Utah Utes in an in-state rivalry game Friday night at Rice-Ecccles Stadium.
FOX 13 Sports' Jeff Rhineer reports this is the 112th meeting of the two teams, and that the Utes won the teams' last contest two years ago at Rice Eccles Stadium 30-26 after making a comeback. However, three years ago USU defeated Utah in Logan in overtime.
See the video above for comments on the upcoming game from Utah Head Coach Kyle Whittingham and USU Head Coach Matt Wells, as well for comments from players on both sides.
"I think it's been a heck of a rivalry," Whittingham said. "It's been very competitive, I can tell you that, especially as of late. And so, our guys look forward to it and we better be at our best if we're gonna have a chance to win the football game."
Wells said the Utes are looking better than they ever have since he began at USU.
"Maybe the most talented team I've seen at Utah--top to bottom, all three phases--since I've been at Utah State," he said. "They're very, very deep."
Tune in to FOX 13 News at Nine Friday for coverage of the game and highlights. Both teams are undefeated coming into the match-up, which is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
