KEARNS, Utah -- A man involved in an accident in Kearns Sunday evening has died.

The crash happened on 4015 West 5015 South around 7:30 p.m.

Officers with the Unified Police Department said a white Honda was going northbound on 4015 West and made a left turn into the motorcycle because the driver of the car didn't see the motorcycle.

The driver of the motorcycle, 66-year-old John E. Thayer, was not wearing a helmet, and he was taken to Intermountain Medical Center.

“Somebody didn’t, you know, pay attention or didn’t see a motorcycle and made a left in front of him,” Lt. Manfred Lassig of UPD said. “During the good weather, there’s a lot of motorcycles out and about, and people need to be more cautious when they're driving.”

The crash is under investigation, and police said they do not believe alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash.
