WEST VALLEY CITY -- Police have captured a wanted fugitive Wednesday, and the man had previously escaped from police on several occasions in recent months.
Stephen Hammer, 24, was listed as one of the Unified Police Department Metro Gang Unit's Top 10 fugitives, and the man suspected in multiple burglaries and thefts has evaded police after pursuits on several occasions. The man is also wanted for the theft of firearms, vehicle burglaries and numerous charges for fleeing police.
Hammer evaded police after a chasein August and again at the end of September, and his most recent flight from authorities was Monday in Taylorsville.
The man was arrested by authorities Wednesday night in the area 4300 West 3500 South. Hammer was arrested by multiple agencies, and he was booked on federal charges relating to weapons on a no-bail warrant.
