Danica joined the FOX13 News team in July of 2015 from Tampa Bay, Florida. She reported at CBS Tampa WTSP and covered several national news stories out of Tampa Bay. In her free time, she was a dedicated volunteer with the American Diabetes Association Tampa Chapter participating in and emceeing many of their events.
Danica’s first on camera anchor/reporter job was just 4 hours north of SLC in Idaho Falls, Idaho at the CBS affiliate KIDK. She loved the small town she called home for a short time.
After Idaho Falls she anchored and reported in Tulsa, Oklahoma at FOX23 News. During her time there she covered many breaking news stories including two EF5 tornadoes and some of her most inspiring stories about military families losing their loves ones in the line of duty.
Danica grew up just north of Los Angeles. Her father has a long television news career at the Los Angeles CW affiliate, KTLA. That is how Danica fell in love with television journalism. She would go to work with her dad quite often and listen to the anchors reporting on air, hear them talk about their experiences, and all the wonderful people they would meet. She knew at a young age that this was her destiny. The two favorite parts of her job are storytelling and meeting new people. She loves finding the best way to deliver the heart of each story.
Danica met her fiancé, Jeff McAdam, during her time at FOX23 News in Tulsa. Jeff anchored sports and Danica covered news and their paths crossed quite often. They even did team coverage together. Jeff swept Danica off her feet and publicly asked her to be his Valentine on the loud speaker at the station. They are getting married in June 2016.
When Danica is not reporting she is active in her community with the American Diabetes Association. She enjoys working with children and families with type 1 diabetes. She and her fiancé love to run, kayak, hike, and surf together. She said since surfing won’t be possible in Salt Lake City, her fiancé will teach her how to ski! That way they can hit the slopes together!
Danica would love to hear from you and welcomes your story suggestions, so send her a tweet @DanicaTVNews or email her at Danica.Lawrence@Fox13Now.com.
