PAGE, Ariz. – Crews continue to search for a Jackson, Wyo. man who did not resurface after cliff jumping at Lake Powell Friday.

The National Park Service Glen Canyon Dispatch received the report of the accident in the Coconino County portion of Face Canyon. A 28-year-old man allegedly attempted a cliff jump at about 90 feet, officials say. Witnesses told investigators the victim did not resurface after entering the water.

After the accident, officials say, bystanders immediately searched but were unable to locate the man. The National Park Service, Coconino County Sheriff’s Office and Utah State Parks responded to the scene and searched the area.

A remotely operated vehicle was used for the search due to the water’s depth. Depths were in excess of 150 feet. Search efforts continued through the evening hours and extended to Saturday.

The interagency search continues with vessels, a dive team ROV specialists and law enforcement.

More information will be provided as it becomes available.
