Man from St. George killed in crash on Arizona Strip

SOUTHERN UTAH — A man died in a rollover crash south of St. George on the Arizona Strip Monday night.

According to a press release from Mohave County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on the Mt. Trumbull Loop at mile post 3 around 5 p.m. Monday. The area is south of River Road in St. George, according to the press release.

Deputies who happened to be nearby when the crash occurred observed a cloud of dust and responded to the scene, where they found a Ford Expedition that had rolled off the roadway. Responding deputies attempted CPR on the victim, but the man was declared dead at the scene.

The man is identified as 47-year-old Matthew Harris Putnam of St. George, Utah. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and no other injuries were reported.

The press release states the crash is still under investigation and that an autopsy is pending.
