MERCED, Calif. – Five students have been stabbed at the University of California, Merced, the school announced on Twitter.
Officers shot the suspect and he later died from his injuries, according to the UC Merced Police Department.
The campus has been closed and classes were canceled, according to the university.
Two of those stabbed were flown to the hospital and three others were treated on campus; all victims were conscious.
Officers said the incident happened in front of the Classroom and Office Building Wednesday morning.
“Campus is locked down. Do not come to campus. If you’re on campus, stay where you are,” the school said. “Though there is no active danger, getting on and off campus is difficult.”
