KEARNS, Utah - Police are searching for an armed man who they said kidnapped someone in Kearns but then returned to the house and released the victim, right in front of officers.

Cody James Carrillo

Unified Police got reports about two men, one with a gun, going to a home near 5600 W. and 5400 S. and demanding a person get into their car at about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

While officers were investigating at the home, the two suspects returned and forced the kidnapping victim out of the car.

The suspects then drove off and officers followed until they lost the suspects' car.

Authorities later tracked down one of the alleged kidnappers, Cody James Carrillo, at a Smith's grocery store near 4100 S. and 5600 W. but the other suspect is still on the run.

Officers said Carrillo has numerous felony warrants and they believe the incident could be gang-related.
