WEST VALLEY CITY — Police are searching for at least two people who fled from police while driving a stolen vehicle before abandoning the car and fleeing on foot early Thursday morning.
Police said an officer spotted a speeding vehicle on Redwood Road near 3100 South just after midnight, but when the officer pursued the car he wasn’t able to keep up.
The car turned into an apartment complex in the area. When police followed, they found what appeared to be the same vehicle, abandoned.
“When the officer arrived, there wasn’t anybody in the car,” said Lt. Mike Christenson, West Valley City PD. “The car doors were open. When he ran the license plate, it came back to a stolen vehicle.”
Officers searched the area with the help of K9s but were unable to find anyone. Investigators hope items left in the car will lead them to the thieves.
