Trial date set for lawsuit against former UHP trooper accused of making improper DUI stops

SALT LAKE CITY — A judge has set a March date for the jury trial in a lawsuit against a former Utah Highway Patrol Trooper accused of making improper traffic stops.

The two-day trial was set in Thomas Romero’s lawsuit against former Trooper Lisa Steed, who is facing a number of accusations of making improper DUI stops.

The judge did reject lawyers’ request for a class action lawsuit earlier this year, which could have resulted in hundreds of claims against Steed and the Utah Highway Patrol. Click here for details on that ruling.
