SALT LAKE CITY — Funeral services have been announced for former Utah governor Olene Walker, who died at the age of 85.

Walker, the first and only female Utah governor to date, died Saturday morning from natural causes.

Funeral services will take place Dec. 4 at noon at the Canyon Rim Stake Center, 3051 S. 2900 East, in Salt Lake City.

Friends and family may visit Dec. 3 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Gold Room at the Utah State Capitol and also at the stake center on Dec. 4 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. prior to the service.

An online guestbook to post messages and tributes for the family is available at http://www.holbrookmortuary.com/.

The family wishes to express their thanks to the residents of Utah for their support and love throughout Walker’s years of public service.

“In lieu of flowers, please read with a child or send a contribution to the Olense S. Walker Institute of Politics and Public Service at Weber State University,” the family requests.
