SUMMIT COUNTY, Utah — A remote road is closed in Summit County after a pipeline leaked about 8,400 gallons of gasoline, butane and propane into a nearby ditch Monday night.
North Summit Fire District responded to the scene at 3300 East and Chalk Creek Road. Officials with Citation Oil and Gas confirmed they shut down the pipeline from the industrial plant in the area after the rupture.
Two homes are in the area but no evacuations were made.
The road will closed until crews can clean the area.
Investigators said they aren’t sure why the pipeline started leaking.
The pipeline runs from several storage areas on hillside above Chalk Creek Road.
Enviro Care is working to contain the mess and clean up the area.
