DAVIS COUNTY, Utah — A 21-year-old man was charged in Davis County on suspicion of exchanging sexual photos and videos with two underage girls through social media.
On Nov. 25, Jacob Ricks Vodden was charged with eight counts of sexual exploitation of a minor and four counts of dealing in harmful material to a minor by an adult. The charges stem from the exchange of sexual photos and videos via social media the man had with girls between Dec. 30, 2014 and July 31, 2015.
One of the alleged victims was between the ages of 13 and 14 years old. Court documents indicate Vodden was aware of the girl’s age because he first met her at a family party when she was 10 years old.
During the course of the investigation, court documents indicate officers also found three sexual images of a second underage girl.
The images were sent and received on May 21, 2014. The alleged victim was 17 years old at the time.
Vodden told law enforcement that he engaged in “trading inappropriate pictures with a minor,” court documents state.
Vodden told investigators the conduct occurred via Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat.
Vodden is scheduled to appear in court for an initial appearance on Dec. 2 at 1:29 p.m.
