Police: intoxicated man suffers minor injuries after stepping in front of car in SLC

SALT LAKE CITY — A man suffered minor injuries after a crash involving a car and a pedestrian in Salt Lake City Saturday night, and police said it appears the pedestrian was intoxicated and stepped in front of a moving car.

The crash occurred in the area of 380 South and 300 West, and FOX 13 News first began hearing reports of the crash around 5:45 p.m.

Salt Lake City Police Department personnel at the scene said a homeless man who was intoxicated stepped off the sidewalk in front of traffic and was hit by a car. The vehicle was traveling at relatively low speeds, and the man suffered minor injuries.

The identity of the man struck by the car has not yet been released.

Police said at this point the driver of the vehicle is not facing charges or citations, as it appears the pedestrian was at fault for the collision.
