MIDVALE, Utah – Christmas Eve celebrations are a tradition for Christians and others across the globe, but members of the Jewish community in Utah also gather on December 24.
Dozens of people turned out at the Asian Star restaurant in Midvale for an annual event that is becoming a local tradition.
The group meets at Asian Star because it's one of the few businesses open on Christmas Eve, and event organizers say it's a great way for people in the Jewish community to get together.
“A lot of us here are on our own without our parents and extended family, so we should, you know, all be together, find each other,” said Dganit Herzig of the Jewish Community Federation of Utah.
Last year, about 60 people showed up to the event, and this year it was around 80. The group hopes that as they continue to host the event, participation will continue to grow.
