OGDEN — Firefighters said they managed to save Christmas for a family dealing with a house fire this morning.
The fire was reported earlier today at 948 N. Orchard. The Ogden Fire Department said that when it arrived, the home was engulfed in smoke but crews were able to extinguish the fire quickly. The family of two adults and three children had managed to escape. One person was evaluated at the scene for a medical problem, the fire department said in a statement.
“Fire crews were able to remove all the presents from the home to keep them from being damaged in the fire,” the Ogden Fire Department said.
Damage to the home is estimated at $40,000. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
