HERRIMAN, Utah – Unified Fire Authority tweeted this video of one of its first responders rescuing a pup that got stuck in an icy pond in Herriman Monday.

The dog is expected to recover.

Tucker’s owner was walking him near Spring Canyon Drive when the dog spotted some ducks in the pond and chased after them but couldn’t get out of the water.

Fortunately the nearest fire station had a water rescue suit.

Firefighters laid a ladder out on the ice, one of them put on the suit, and swam out to help Tucker back to safety.

The dog was only in the water about 15 minutes.

Firefighter’s say icy ponds are very dangerous and a person would not have lasted 15 minutes as the dog did.

So keep a close eye on your pets and kids!
