WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – A 10-year-old boy who was hit by a car while crossing a street in West Valley City Thursday is recovering in a hospital.
The crash occurred Thursday morning near Redwood Road and 3500 South as the boy was crossing the street, and the child was in a crosswalk when he was hit.
West Valley City police said the light turned green as the boy was still crossing, and a driver proceeded forward, striking the child. Authorities said the driver did not see the child because a truck blocked their view.
The driver was not cited, and authorities said the incident appears to be simply an accident.
The boy was transported in serious condition but did not appear to have any broken bones. He is expected to be OK.
