(CNN) — An avalanche near McBride, British Columbia, has killed five people, according to Donita Cuzma of the British Columbia Coroners Service.
The avalanche struck at about 1:30 p.m. local time (2:30 p.m. MT).
McBride is about 470 miles from Vancouver.
