SALT LAKE CITY — A man was booked into jail after he allegedly accused a couple of stealing from him before chasing them down the street, knocking the woman to the ground and groping her.
According to the Salt Lake City Police Department, a male and female in their 20s were walking along 200 South near 600 West around 5 a.m. Wednesday when a man they came in contact with accused them of stealing from him.
The couple ran from the man, and that man and others gave chase. During the chase, the man allegedly punched the woman in the head to knock her to the ground and then put his hands down her pants and groped her.
She fled after getting to her feet.
Police responding to the scene arrested 27-year-old Josue Ariega-Valle and booked him into jail on charges of object rape as a first-degree felony and battery as a misdemeanor. Booking records also indicated an interstate federal detainee hold.
