WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah — The day after a woman who suffered stab wounds escaped through a back window to reach a neighbor’s home and call for help, a suspect has been arrested and faces charges of aggravated sexual assault and attempted murder.
Police responded to the area near 3200 South and 4000 West early Saturday morning, where they found signs of a struggle including bloody hand prints on a wall.
The woman, who was bleeding from the neck and arm, reported she had invited several people over for a social gathering, and that one acquaintance attacked her after she had gone to bed.
According to a press release issued Sunday evening, 25-year-old Caritino Cisneros Armenta was arrested in Midvale.
The man was booked into the Salt Lake County Jail, where he faces one count of aggravated sexual assault as a first-degree felony and one count of attempted murder as a first-degree felony.
