BOUNTIFUL, Utah -- It was an amazing night in Bountiful Saturday as Utah Miss Amazing hosted their final show of the year.
The event was held at Viewmont High School, and it’s open to all women and girls over the age of five who have disabilities.
The participants donned their best formal wear and took to the stage, but event organizers said it’s more than just a beauty pageant.
“We believe that we can help them build self-esteem and confidence by teaching them and practicing life skills,” said Imari Mackay, the state director for the Utah Miss Amazing Pageant. “For example, this morning we worked on teamwork by doing a service project together.”
Each participant had a chance to perform a talent. A winner is chosen from each age group and goes on to represent the state for the rest of the year.
