SOUTHERN UTAH -- The search for a missing Cedar City man has now turned into a recovery effort.
Iron County search crews said that’s because Daniel Brown’s been missing for three days in stormy weather, while only wearing a T-shirt and jeans.
But, they’re also considering the idea Brown may have deliberately left the area.
On Thursday, Iron County Sheriff’s Office Lieutenant Del Schlosser said crews continued to search by ground and air, looking for any sign of Brown.
The 34-year old husband and father reportedly left his family late Monday afternoon, after their van got stuck on a mountain road near the Kane Springs area.
Authorities said Brown would have fought a snowstorm in just a T-shirt, jeans and tennis shoes. They don’t think he survived if was in the area, but Brown may not be out there at all.
"We are looking at other possibilities,” Lt. Schlosser said. “One of those possibilities is that he just left his family and left the area. We have investigators that are working now with interviews and other information to try and locate him if he did leave the area."
Brown’s wife and four kids waited overnight in the van before they called for help, Schlosser had said.
They reportedly used a cell phone Brown left behind to make that call.
Iron County asks anyone who may have seen or has information on Daniel Brown to contact the Iron County Sheriff’s Office at 435-867-7500 or Iron County Dispatch at 435-867-7550.
In the meantime, Lt. Schlosser said his thoughts and prayers are with the Brown family.
