Ogden police respond to report of shooting; apparent victim turns up at hospital

OGDEN, Utah — Police in Ogden responded to a report of a shooting Sunday evening but couldn’t find a victim at the scene, however, a short time later, a man with a gunshot wound walked into a local hospital.

Lt. Jake Sube, Ogden Police Department, said they received a report of shots fired in the area of Van Buren and 29th Street around 5 p.m. Sunday.

Responding officers located shell casings and other evidence of a shooting, but they did not observe any victims or property damage.

A short time later, police were notified that a man with a gunshot wound had arrived at a local hospital and reported he was shot in the area where the report originated.

Officers are still investigating the area and working to clear a home where the shooting occurred. They area also interviewing the victim.

While no suspects have been taken into custody, Sube said they do not believe there is a danger to the public at this time.
