Brothers booked in Brigham City after allegedly attacking man with box cutter

BOX ELDER COUNTY, Utah — Two brothers are behind bars after they allegedly beat a man and then slashed his face with a box cutter earlier this month.

The two men were arrested April 2 after a fight in Brigham City.

According to a statement of probable cause, Mauro Ruben Barriga and Heraclio Eric Barriga went to the victim’s home, where Mauro punched the victim, knocking him to the ground.

Heraclio Barriga then allegedly punched the victim while he was on the ground, and witnesses reported that both brothers cut the victim’s face. One of the brothers had, “a box cutter style razor blade” on his person when he was arrested, and the victim had cuts on his face.

The two brothers were booked into jail and face charges of aggravated assault as a third-degree felony.
