Posted

ST. GEORGE, Utah — A man from St. George was killed in Nevada when a kit-built gyrocopter crashed in a dry creek bed.

According to the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office in Nevada, the crash occurred in a remote area of Nevada near Texas Dry Lake.

The pilot has been identified as 58-year-old Kevin Eaton of St. George, who has an aircraft operating license.

The crash occurred Thursday, and authorities said the single-seat, experimental gyrocopter appears to have sustained some sort of accident. A friend told deputies he heard a “pop” sound before the aircraft fell about 100 feet to the ground.

The Federal Aviation Administration and National Transportation Safety Board are investigating the crash.
