SALT LAKE CITY -- A man wanted for alleged sexual abuse of a child in a case dating back to the 1990s has turned himself in to Salt Lake City Police.

According to a press release from the Salt Lake City Police Department, a felony warrant for aggravated sexual abuse of a child had been issued for 47-year-old Ward Allen Bushman.

Detective Wilking with Salt Lake City PD said the alleged victim came forward recently and reported the abuse, which allegedly occurred in 1998 and 1999 when the victim was 5 years old.

Police said some of the abuse may have occurred inside a home where Bushman worked as a daycare provider.

Wilking said they had enough evidence to file charges and request a warrant for Bushman's arrest, but Bushman had fled before police arrived to serve the warrant.

Bushman later turned himself in to police Wednesday evening.

Police said the alleged abuse occurred from 1998-1999 and that it is possible there are other victims who have not yet been identified. bushman
