WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah – A man is behind bars after trying to sneak past police with a stolen truck.
“He walked right up to our officers and was trying to just walk his way past but we got a good description of him beforehand,” West Valley Lt. Steve Burke said.
Officers said they spotted the truck around midnight.
Authorities followed the suspect into a neighborhood and successfully spiked one of the truck tires near 4347 W. 3015 S.
The truck stopped and the driver ran.
“It is a very large vehicle,” Burke said. “It could have been a very dangerous pursuit if we would’ve engaged in something like that but luckily everything came to an end before it really got started.”
Authorities said the man will be charged with possession of a stolen vehicle and running from police.
