LDS Church dedicates 154th temple in Star Valley, Wyoming

Posted

STAR VALLEY, Wyo. – The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints dedicated their 154th temple Sunday, and the Star Valley Wyoming Temple is the faith’s first in the Cowboy State.

Elder David A. Bednar of the LDS Church’s Quorum of the Twelve Apostles dedicated the temple Sunday in a ceremony accompanied by various other LDS leaders.

The location has extra significance for the Bednar family, as Susan Bednar is from the area.

“I’m a product of this valley,” Sister Susan Bednar, wife of Elder Bednar, said. “I’m so grateful for everything that has been done, past, present and will be done in the future. I’ve had an opportunity to keep an eye on what’s been going on in preparation for this dedication and the work that has been done in homes where families have taught their children about the temple.”

The ceremony held Sunday, during which leaders including Susan Bednar applied finishing touches to the mortar around the cornerstone, marked the end of a celebration that featured thousands of LDS youth. A three-week open house preceded the dedication, during which 78,000 people visited.
