Sex offender arrested for trespassing nude at Logan Temple told police he was there to meet a wife

LOGAN, Utah — A man who is a registered sex offender was arrested last month after he allegedly tried to gain entry to a LDS Temple in Logan while “wearing not a single item of clothing.”

A man who was taking photos of an LDS Temple in Logan called police November 13 after seeing another man disrobe, climb over a fence, and try to open the front doors of the building.

When police responded they found Kelly Archibald naked at the scene, and he made no attempt to cover himself when he noticed the officer.

After climbing back over the fence and covering up with a jacket and blanket he’d left nearby, Archibald told the officer he had come to the temple “to meet a wife,” according to a statement of probable cause.

When police asked Archibald why he was nude, the man said he was naked because that’s the way he came into this world.

The man’s truck was found parked and straddling the sidewalk in front of the temple’s northern gate. Archibald had apparently driven to the temple with the jacket on and a blanket around his waist, as no pants were found at or near the truck.

The man’s dogs were inside the truck, and they were given over to Cache Humane Society for shelter.

Archibald is currently a registered sex offender with sex offense convictions in both Utah and Idaho, according to charging documents.

The man was booked into jail and faces the following charges: lewdness by a registered sex offender, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct.
