Pedophile reportedly dies after angry parents attacked him during church concert

MORÓN, Argentina – A 42-year-old pedophile who was convicted of molesting five preschool children died this week, more than a month after he was beaten by a group of angry parents at a church concert in Argentina, according to multiple reports.

Marco Fabian Pecollo was playing the trumpet in an orchestra at a church in the Buenos Aires suburb of Morón on Oct. 30 when the group of parents stormed the cathedral yelling, “There is a pedophile and a rapist in the church and he is playing in this orchestra,” AFP reported.

Pecollo tried to run away, but the group chased him down, blocked his path and started beating him, according to the report. Witnesses told AFP that at one point, he was hit by one parent with his own trumpet.

He died of his injuries last Friday, according to the Washington Post, which confirmed the man’s death with local police.

The sexual abuse allegations against Pecollo, a preschool music teacher, first surfaced in 2007, when a mother said that he had abused her 4-year-old son, according to the Post.

Three years after that, Pecollo was accused by more than half a dozen families of molesting children, according to the Post.

He was found guilty of sexually abusing five children between the ages of 3 and 5 and sentenced to 30 years in prison, according to the Post, citing local media outlets.

Pecollo’s sentence was reduced, however, and he was released from prison in 2014.
