Dixie Fire burning near Elko, Nevada nearing full containment

ELKO, Nevada — The Dixie Fire burning near Elko, Nev. was 89 percent contained by Friday night.

The fire that was started by lightning on July 24 has burned over 2,500 acres.

Crews battling the blaze about 16 miles southwest of Elko hope to have the fire completely contained by 6 p.m. Saturday.
